Documentation Builders Should Keep

Records that protect the builder as much as the client when questions come up later.

Photographic record

Foundations before pour, insulation before plasterboard, fire stopping before closure, drainage before backfill. One photo per item beats a thousand words at handover.

Delivery notes

Insulation product, thickness, batch. Fire board type and certification. Steel section sizes. The paperwork that proves you fitted what was specified.

Inspector comments

Keep every written comment from Building Control on the project file. They form part of the audit trail that supports the Completion Certificate.
