Common Reasons Inspections Fail

The handful of issues that cause most failed inspections — and the discipline that prevents them.

Work covered before inspection

Plasterboard over insulation, screed over underfloor heating, paving over drainage. Once it is covered, it has to be uncovered. Book the visit before you cover up.

Would you have spotted this?

Wrong product on site

Specified insulation substituted for a thinner alternative. Specified fire board replaced with standard plasterboard. Always check what arrives matches what was approved.

Drawings out of date

A revised drawing the builder did not get. Working to the wrong revision means doing it twice.
