Before You Sign Anything

The handover paperwork that arrives on the last day deserves more attention than it usually gets.

What you are signing

Practical completion notices, snagging sign-offs, sometimes compliance declarations. Read every line. If anything mixes 'I accept the work as compliant' with 'I accept practical completion', stop and ask.

Where the risk transfers

Insurance, maintenance and warranty cover often pivot on the signature date. Make sure your home insurer knows the work is complete.

What you should be given

A handover pack — certificates, manuals, warranties, and the maintenance schedule. If it is not there, the project is not finished.
